Edmund Tse Sze-wing, the independent non-executive chairman of AIA Group, emphasised that the insurer will not relocate its headquarters from Hong Kong, citing the city’s advantages over Singapore. The statement coincided with the opening of AIA’s redeveloped group headquarters at 1 Stubbs Road in Wan Chai, described as an ‘urban campus’. This new facility boasts 22 floors, accommodating up to 1,800 staff, and includes a gym, canteen, and sports hall. It also features sustainable elements like 80 electric vehicle chargers and rooftop solar panels. At the opening, acting Financial Secretary Michael Wong highlighted the need for Hong Kong to explore new economic growth areas such as fintech and green finance. AIA remains committed to its Hong Kong base, underlining its confidence in the city’s long-term economic prospects.
