Barclays appoints senior executives for APAC, Middle East



Barclays has appointed Vijay Shankar U.S. as managing director, head of global transaction banking, and Amaar Khan as managing director, chief information officer and head of corporate banking technology for APAC and the Middle East. Both will be based in Singapore, the bank said. Shankar, with 38 years of experience, was previously executive director at ANZ Bank, where he built transaction banking across Asia. He has also worked at Standard Chartered and Deutsche Bank. Khan, with 27 years in technology, was most recently CIO and head of engineering for APAC at BNY Mellon. He has also held roles at Bank of Singapore, Standard Chartered, Citi, and Credit Suisse. The appointments aim to strengthen Barclays’ corporate banking presence in the region.
