Barclays has named Paul Johnson head of equities for Asia-Pacific, focusing on equity derivatives, financing, electronic trading, and Prime, its global financing platform. Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Scott McDavid, global head of equities, and Jaideep Khanna, Barclays’ Asia-Pacific CEO. Johnson, with over 20 years of experience, was previously APAC co-head of equity derivatives and head of exotics equity derivatives trading at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. He also held leadership roles at Bank of America in London, building franchises in the Middle East and North Africa, and spent over a decade trading CEEMEA FX options at Goldman Sachs. Barclays aims to strengthen its equities presence in the region under Johnson’s leadership.
