China’s public offering funds’ assets under management totaled CNY27.36tr (approximately USD3.85tr) in January, as reported by the Asset Management Association of China. This represents a slight decrease from the CNY27.6tr recorded in 2023. The breakdown shows closed-end funds at about CNY3.79tr, with open-end funds accounting for CNY23.57tr. Among the 145 fund management companies operating in China, 49 are foreign-funded, while 96 are domestically based, according to the association’s data. This financial snapshot indicates a minor contraction in the market size of China’s public offering funds at the start of the year.
