Penang has seen a rise in inquiries from Chinese companies about investment opportunities, reflecting confidence in the region’s economic potential, according to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow. While successful investments are still limited, interest is high. At a press conference for the 2024 Asia Pacific Semiconductor Summit and Expo (APSSE), it was noted that Chinese companies are cautious about capital outflows. The APSSE, hosted by the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA) in partnership with the China Electronic Production Equipment Industry Association (CEPEA), will highlight Penang’s robust electronics and semiconductor ecosystem.
