Chinese premier meets economic experts, entrepreneurs

Chinese Premier Li Qiang chaired a symposium with economists and entrepreneurs to assess the economic outlook and gather input on future policy. Despite external headwinds, participants noted the economy’s resilience and potential. Li said China responded steadily to risks in the first quarter, maintaining growth momentum. However, external shocks weighed on stability, prompting the need for proactive macro policies and timely new measures. Authorities aim to strengthen domestic demand and energise businesses to counter global uncertainties. Li emphasised the importance of ensuring effective economic management in the second quarter and beyond. The government plans to roll out targeted policies to support sustained recovery, while urging companies to adapt to changes and pursue growth.
