Citi launches commercial bank in Japan



New York-based Citi has launched Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) in Japan to expand its commercial banking coverage. CCB will focus on mid-sized Japanese corporations, offering solutions for growth, daily operations, and cross-border needs, including trade and working capital, treasury and liquidity management, global markets capabilities, capital markets solutions, and advisory services. Yutaka Naito, who joined Citi in 2019, will lead the new unit. Citi has been expanding its commercial banking business into new markets, launching in France, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, and Canada recently. In Asia, Citi serves clients in 12 markets, including Japan. Marc Luet, Citi’s head for Japan, Asia North, and Australia, emphasised the bank’s ability to support Japan’s innovative mid-sized companies with global ambitions.
