HK’s MPFA chair urges adoption of online platform for efficient contributions

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) Chair, Ayesha Macpherson Lau, has urged employers to adopt the new eMPF platform for making contributions, which starts on June 26. The platform’s initial trustee, YF Life Trustees, will allow members to set up accounts from June 12, with China Life Trustees following on July 29. Lau emphasised the benefits of switching to e-payment methods offered by eMPF for enhanced efficiency and convenience. Employers currently using cheques must direct them to the eMPF Platform Company, rather than individual trustee branches. Lau also noted that employers and workers need not register on eMPF until their MPF scheme is integrated into the platform. Upcoming onboardings include Bank of Communications Trustee and Standard Chartered Trustee (Hong Kong) in the fall.
