The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Hong Kong recently hosted a fireside chat with European sustainability pioneers. Keynote speakers, Hans Buysse and Alexander Bassen, delved into the intricacies of the European Sustainability Reporting Standard (ESRS) and its pivotal role for non-EU companies under the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. Highlighting the ESRS’s compatibility with the International Sustainability Standards Board, the dialogue underscored the criticality of adopting these standards for Hong Kong’s professionals. With ESRS coming into effect on January 1, 2024, Bassen emphasised its strategic importance for embedding long-term success in sustainability reporting among Hong Kong’s business landscape.
