Major Hong Kong banks including HSBC, Citibank, DBS, and Bank of East Asia offered special incentives such as horse racing, golf events, fireworks dinners, and international school tours to attract mainland Chinese clients during the National Day golden week holiday, which ran until October 7. The holiday was expected to bring over 1.2 million mainland tourists, a 10% increase from last year, according to government estimates. Banks also extended branch hours in tourist areas like Tsim Sha Tsui and Causeway Bay to promote account openings, insurance, and wealth-management products amid a recent market rally. HSBC collaborated with top international schools and offered investment migration workshops, while Citibank provided cash rewards for Citigold accounts.
