Hong Kong’s unemployment rate remained steady at 3% for the March-May period, despite a 2.2% increase in the unemployed population to 116,200. The underemployment rate rose by 0.1 percentage points to 1.2%. Total employment increased by 2,800 to 3,696,900, and the labour force grew by 5,300 to 3,813,100. Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun Yuk-han noted the labour market remains tight with ongoing economic growth. The private sector had an average of 77,692 vacancies, a 26.7% year-on-year decrease but a 3% rise from the previous period.
