Hong Kong is fully prepared to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said at the HKGCC International Business Summit. The event, organised by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, focused on the city’s role amid shifting economic dynamics. Joining the RCEP, a free trade agreement among Asia-Pacific economies, would enhance trade between Hong Kong and member nations through lower tariffs and improved market access. Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po emphasied that traditional markets like the United States remain vital business partners despite trade tensions. He also announced plans to develop emerging markets by establishing new economic and trade offices in Kuala Lumpur and Riyadh.
