HSBC has named William Chan as global chief investment officer and head of investments for global insurance, effective immediately. Chan will lead a team of investment specialists based in Hong Kong, focusing on institutional investment capabilities for HSBC’s assets in Asia and globally. He reports to Edward Moncreiffe, CEO of global insurance. Chan, previously CIO of HSBC Life Hong Kong, brings over 30 years of experience, having held senior roles at HSBC Asset Management and UBS Asset Management in Hong Kong and the UK. He is also a leader of the Green Task Force of the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers and contributed to the launch of the Hong Kong Insurance Industry Climate Charter, which HSBC Life Hong Kong helped to establish.
