
HSBC Holdings has reshuffled leadership in several smaller Asian markets, assigning additional responsibilities to country heads as part of its ongoing effort to streamline operations and reduce management layers. Effective March 1, Peter Kim in Korea and Tim Evans in Vietnam will serve as both CEO and head of banking, an internal memo showed. Similar dual roles were given to Omar Siddiq in Malaysia, Adam Chen in Taiwan, and Giorgio Gamba in Thailand. The lender is also appointing a new head of banking, international markets to oversee multiple Asian countries. CEO Georges Elhedery, who took over last year, is leading a cost-cutting drive, merging commercial and global banking divisions and reducing investment banking in Western markets.
