HSBC to open three Hong Kong branches on weekends

To attract new customers following a surge in mainland Chinese tourists, HSBC, Hong Kong’s biggest bank, will keep three branches open on weekends in popular hotspots. The bank’s branches at Ocean Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, Park Lane Hotel in Causeway Bay, and Kwun Tong will extend their operating hours until 5pm on Saturdays and open from 2pm to 5pm on Sundays, effective March 25. This follows over a million mainland tourists visiting Hong Kong in February, more than triple the numbers recorded the previous month. The bank plans to offer better customer convenience by piloting seven-day operations at the three branches to meet the growing demand for banking services. HSBC aims to expand its manpower by 40% in its international banking and insurance teams through temporary redeployment of staff from other departments and new hiring.
