Indonesia's USD900bn fund unveils high-profile advisory team

Indonesia’s new sovereign fund Danantara unveiled a high-profile advisory team including Ray Dalio, Jeffrey Sachs, and former Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra to steer strategy. The fund, launched by President-elect Prabowo Subianto, aims to manage over USD900bn in assets and drive 8% annual growth by 2029, Reuters reported. Former Indonesian presidents Joko Widodo and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono were named to the steering committee. Sachs told Reuters his advisory role is unpaid and focused on sustainable development. Danantara’s first USD20bn investment wave will target natural resources, AI, energy, and food security. The fund’s formation triggered market jitters last week, with Jakarta’s main index dropping 7% amid investor concerns over the state’s growing role in the economy. CEO Rosan Roeslani said the team aims to restore confidence.
