J.P. Morgan appoints new CEO for Japan asset management arm



J.P. Morgan Asset Management has appointed Kaguya Komatsu as CEO of its Japan business, effective March 2025, succeeding Shoichi Ohkoshi, who will become chairman. Komatsu, who joined the firm in 2011 and was most recently head of funds and institutional business, will oversee institutional and fund sales, product development, client services, and operations. Ohkoshi, who has led JPMAM Japan since 2015, will focus on client relations and regulatory engagement in his newly created role. Both will report to Asia Pacific CEO Dan Watkins. Additionally, Nora Choi-Lee will become chief administrative officer, relocating to Tokyo from Hong Kong to succeed David Tse, who is retiring. J.P. Morgan sees strong growth potential in Japan’s asset management sector.
