JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s head of mergers and acquisitions for Southeast Asia, Johannes Roth, has left to join Citigroup Inc, according to sources. Roth resigned last week and is on gardening leave. He will join Citi as director of sector coverage, including oil and gas, focusing on Southeast Asia. Representatives from Citi and JPMorgan declined to comment, and Roth did not respond to a LinkedIn request for comment. Roth joined JPMorgan in 2008, working in Frankfurt, London, and Hong Kong. He left to work at Noble Group Ltd. before returning to JPMorgan as VP of consumer and retail coverage, eventually becoming head of Southeast Asia M&A in February 2022. This year, JPMorgan ranks fourth in Asia Pacific M&A deals, while Citi leads in equity offerings.
