Lo family donates USD12.9m to expand CUHK Art Museum

The Lo Kwee Seong Foundation has donated HKD100m (USD12.9m) to expand the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s art museum, reinforcing the city’s role as a cultural hub. New Expansion – The 1,770-square-metre pavilion, opening next month, will house a gallery, artists’ studios, a café, and a bookshop. The Lo family, founders of Vitasoy, Cafe de Coral, and Fairwood, have supported the museum since 1979. The extension aims to enhance research, conservation, and curator training while promoting international engagement through digital exhibitions and collaborations. CUHK plans to integrate the museum into Hong Kong’s arts ecosystem, supporting both academic scholarship and cultural preservation.
