Malaysia looks to China for tech-driven economic boost


Malaysia seeks insights from China’s technological and manufacturing sectors to leapfrog its economy, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) shared. Despite China’s economic challenges in property and construction, their tech and manufacturing remain robust. Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister, Liew Chin Tong, emphasised the need for technological upgrades, higher productivity, and growth during the 5th Malaysia-China B2B business matching at the 20th China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO) 2023. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent initiatives also target a technological shift for Malaysia. Anwar is set to visit the CAEXPO in Nanning, China, on September 17, fortifying bilateral ties as both nations approach their 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Amran Yem of MATRADE highlighted the deepening economic partnership between the two nations.
