Malaysia SC launches sustainability reporting guide

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has released the National Sustainability Reporting Framework (NSRF) guidance to support corporate boards in driving sustainability reporting. The framework, launched in September 2023, advances Malaysia’s corporate sustainability agenda. Companies listed on Bursa Malaysia’s Main and ACE Markets and large non-listed firms with revenue above MYR2bn (USD445m) must adopt NSRF requirements in phases, using IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards. These ensure consistent and comparable sustainability disclosures. The SC also introduced a Board Guide, offering simplified steps on governance, financial impact assessments, and risk management integration. To aid compliance, the Advisory Committee on Sustainability Reporting launched PACE, providing training and resources.
