Manulife Wealth and Asset Management (WAM) has named Fabio Fontainha as its head of WAM Asia, effective February 2025. Fontainha will oversee strategic growth initiatives, collaborating with regional and country heads, chief investment officers, and global product teams to strengthen investment capabilities across Asia. Fontainha joins from Citigroup, where he spent over three decades managing global, regional, and local businesses in Asia, Latin America, Europe, the U.S., and the Middle East. His most recent role was Global Business Execution head at Citi Private Bank. Manulife WAM expects to capitalise on global trends such as the retirement savings gap and rising demand from middle-class and high-net-worth populations, aiming to expand its retail, retirement, and institutional businesses in the region.
