Morgan Stanley has officially launched its futures company in China, Morgan Stanley Futures (China), headquartered in Beijing. The wholly-owned subsidiary provides brokerage services for onshore commodity futures listed on major Chinese exchanges, including the Dalian Commodity Exchange and Shanghai Futures Exchange. Approved by the China Securities Regulatory Commission in May 2023, the unit plans to expand into equity and fixed-income futures and options on the China Financial Futures Exchange after obtaining necessary qualifications. Morgan Stanley CEO Gokul Laroia called the launch a significant step in building the bank’s integrated platform to support domestic and international clients. The move underscores the US banking giant’s commitment to strengthening its presence in China’s financial markets.
