OCBC appoints veteran banker Tan to lead China corporate banking



OCBC Bank has appointed Seth Tan as the new head of corporate banking for its China unit, succeeding Ang Eng Siong, who became OCBC China’s CEO from November 1, 2023. Tan’s appointment, effective January 15, 2024, marks a significant move for OCBC, bolstering its leadership with his extensive 27-year experience in banking. Tan’s expertise spans structured finance, project financing, and infrastructure, with prior roles at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Infrastructure Asia. His appointment is pivotal for OCBC’s strategy to enhance trade and investment flows between Greater China and ASEAN. Tan will oversee banking relationships with state-owned and large corporates in China, reporting to Ang and Elaine Lam, OCBC’s head of global corporate banking.
