Private banking veteran joins Malaysian asset management firm

A veteran of Asia’s private banking sector has joined Kuala Lumpur-based JIA Asset Management as head of strategy. Benjamin Pedley, who has held senior investment roles at HSBC, LGT, ANZ, and J.P. Morgan, will help guide JIA’s strategic direction, the firm said. In October, JIA also hired Joel Brown as a portfolio manager. Brown brings 11 years of wealth management experience, having previously worked at AHAM Asset Management and CIMB Bank. The hires come as JIA prepares to expand its fund management offering, including a planned equity financing-based fund focused on solar and renewables, alongside other equity and credit-related products slated for early 2025. JIA Asset Management, licensed by Malaysia’s Securities Commission, provides independent and customised portfolio management services.
