Singapore’s Temasek plans USD30bn US investment over five years

Singapore state investor Temasek plans to invest up to USD30bn in the US over the next five years, focusing on healthcare, financial services, and technology. Jane Atherton, Temasek’s head of North America, highlighted the US as a leader in AI advancement. The US economy outperformed expectations in the second quarter, with the S&P 500 up 14.5% this year, partly due to AI excitement. Meanwhile, China’s weaker-than-expected growth led to interest rate cuts. Temasek’s U.S. investments, particularly in AI-related areas, are helping offset China’s underperformance. Temasek manages a USD288bn portfolio emphasising long-term investments in digitisation and sustainability.
