South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol announced that South Korea and Singapore will enter into a strategic partnership next year, marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. During his visit to Singapore for a summit with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Yoon stated that the partnership will deepen cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence and startups. The two countries also signed an extradition treaty to enhance judicial cooperation and a memorandum of understanding on liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply cooperation to stabilize international supply chains. Yoon, who visited the Philippines earlier this week, will head to Laos to attend a regional summit of ASEAN leaders. He emphasized South Korea’s commitment to joint military exercises and addressing emerging threats like cyber and transnational crime.
