South Korea will implement a new trade rule to expand support for companies affected by trade agreements, the industry ministry said. The Act on Addressing Changes in Trade Environment, an update to the Trade Adjustment Assistance Act, will cover businesses impacted by FTAs and agreements like the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework. It broadens aid to include companies affected by shifts in raw materials, intermediate goods, and final products. The rule lowers the eligibility threshold for assistance to a 5% drop in sales or production, down from 10%. Support will focus on enhancing competitiveness in technology and management rather than one-off financial aid. The ministry said the government aims to help firms adapt to changes in the global trade landscape.
