South Korea’s Financial Services Commission Chairman Kim Byoung-hwan is set to meet Japan’s Financial Services Agency Commissioner Hideki Ito in Tokyo next month, marking their first encounter since taking office in July. This meeting is part of the resumed shuttle diplomacy between the two nations, which aims to address financial issues and strengthen ties after an eight-year break. The discussions will cover strategies for corporate value enhancement and the potential introduction of cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs), with both regulators previously expressing cautious views on the latter. Additionally, Kim plans to visit the Japanese stock exchange and engage with local firms that have successfully boosted their market value. The visit is scheduled for early September, just before Korea’s Chuseok holiday.
