Hanwha Group’s financial subsidiaries have opened the Hanwha AI Center in San Francisco, marking the first AI research hub in the city by a South Korean financial firm. Established by Hanwha Life, alongside Hanwha General Insurance and Hanwha Asset Management, the centre aims to enhance AI research and collaboration with local universities, startups, and investors. Senior executives, including Hanwha Life CEO Yeo Seung-joo, attended the opening alongside AI experts like Stanford’s Andrew Ng. The centre seeks to develop innovative financial services, secure investment opportunities, and foster open innovation. Hanwha Life, which has focused on AI research since 2014, aims to expand globally beyond insurance and strengthen its competitive edge through proactive partnerships within the global AI ecosystem.
