Standard Chartered has appointed Harmander Mahal as head of wealth and retail banking for Malaysia and Indonesia, effective October 14, 2024. Based in Malaysia, Mahal will drive the wealth and retail banking strategy across both markets. He has been with the bank since 2015, initially joining as regional head of retail banking segments and analytics in Singapore. Separately, Citi has named former JP Morgan Chase executive director Ng Hooi Wan as its head of markets for Malaysia, effective December 2024. Ng joined JP Morgan's Malaysian office in 2011, leading local markets and private side sales. At Citi, she will report to Sue Lee, head of markets for the Asia South cluster, and Vikram Singh, Citi Country Officer and Banking Head for Malaysia.
