Trump's victory spurs calls for stronger South Korea-US ties



South Korea’s leading business organisations extended congratulations to Donald Trump following his victory in the US presidential election, urging stronger Seoul-Washington cooperation. The Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) highlighted the importance of the Korea-US trade and economic relationship, underpinned by a robust security alliance. The KCCI expressed confidence in continued bilateral ties, noting South Korean investments in advanced industries like semiconductors and EV batteries, which have supported US employment and industrial diversification. The Korea Enterprise Federation (KEF) called for enhanced economic and security collaboration under Trump’s new administration and improvements in investment systems. The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) urged Trump to strengthen bilateral relations, emphasising the Korea-US free trade agreement.
