UOB has announced the appointment of Richard Maloney as the new CEO of its Thailand operations starting July 1. Maloney, who joined UOB in 2014 and previously served as the COO of group wholesale banking, will replace Tan Choon Hin. Tan will return to Singapore to assume the role of deputy head of group governance, risk, and compliance. Concurrently, Vira-Anong C Phutrakul will become the head of wholesale banking and deputy CEO of UOB Thailand. Maloney aims to enhance UOB Thailand’s digital capabilities and expand its product offerings, connecting clients to market opportunities regionally. Deputy chairman and CEO Wee Ee Cheong expressed confidence in Maloney and Phutrakul, citing their extensive industry experience.
