Over half of American businesses in China are concerned about worsening US-China relations, the highest level in five years, according to an American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) survey. The survey, conducted among 368 members between October and November, showed 51% fear further deterioration in ties between the world’s largest economies. Geopolitical tensions, policy uncertainties, and trade disputes remain key concerns. While nearly half of respondents rank China as a top-three investment priority, the share of companies no longer considering China a preferred destination has more than doubled to 21% from pre-pandemic levels. Released days after Donald Trump proposed new tariffs on Chinese imports, the report also highlights continued complaints about unfair treatment in China.
