Vietnam enhances digital tax compliance

The General Department of Taxation in Vietnam will enhance tax compliance risk management to prevent evasion in the digital economy, Deputy Director Dang Ngoc Minh announced. With nearly one million enterprises, three million business households, and 27 million individual taxpayers, the digital economy presents tax management challenges. The tax administrations are focusing on compliance risk management by developing criteria, implementing a supervision system for e-invoice issuance, and using AI to detect risks. Deputy Head Ngo Thi Thuy Linh noted that this modern method helps allocate resources efficiently and focus on high-risk groups. The department is also developing compliance risk criteria for individual taxpayers and business households. Improving the legal framework and using technology are key to encouraging compliance and ensuring a transparent business environment.
