Weave, KKR launch multi-family housing venture in Japan

KKR and Weave Living have launched ‘Weave Living Japan Residential Venture I’, a strategic partnership targeting over 3,000 residential units in Japan. The program focuses on Tokyo, with plans to expand to Osaka, investing in newly built and existing assets. The venture, seeded with 11 newly acquired and stabilised properties in Tokyo comprising 439 units, builds on KKR and Weave’s earlier collaboration in South Korea. David Cheong, KKR’s Asia Real Estate Co-Head, stressed Japan’s importance in KKR’s real estate strategy, while Weave Living CEO Sachin Doshi highlighted the venture as the first in a series of Japan-focused initiatives. KKR’s investment, through its Asia Real Estate Partners fund, adds to its growing footprint in Japan’s real estate market, spanning multifamily, hospitality, and office sectors.
